C-SPAN: Rich States, Poor States Authors Discuss the 13th Edition

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) announced the results of its annual report “Rich States, Poor States,” which ranks the financial outlooks for states. ALEC Chief Economist and Executive Vice President Jonathan Williams listed the states which ranked at the top including Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Indiana and North Carolina. He also said the states at the bottom of the list were New York, Vermont, New Jersey, Illinois and California. The ranking is compiled using a variety of factors including a state’s tax rates, regulations and labor policies. Also discussed, was how various states are performing economically amid the coronavirus pandemic.
